On Death

We are constantly dying

Whether we acknowledge it or not

Our cells die and shed and new ones take their place

Our thoughts die

Our habits change

Our relationships shift

Our careers evolve

Eventually our physical form we know as our body decomposes

As this year comes to an end, many people make plans for the new year.

Some people just throw seeds on the ground, hoping they will grow

Others get some soil to help their seeds grow

And others compost and weed and tend the land - digging it up, turning it over, noticing what’s there and evaluating what needs to change

What is dead and needs to be dug out?

What is currently dying?

In the dying, what do you notice?

Maybe you’re not even aware of the death

Maybe you are deep in the depths of grief and loss

Maybe you are questioning:

- “Why am I left here?”

- “Would I be missed when I die?”

- “What is my purpose and life here?”

- “What am I regretting?”

- “What is my legacy?”

Maybe you feel lost and confused having been at the crossroads of death and life

Maybe you are celebrating death and new beginnings

Wherever you are, it’s a beautiful space

For these deaths are a journey

Of inquiry

Of growth

Of evolution

Of discovery

Of learning

Of expansion

Of desire

Of whatever it is for you

In the death and decay

In the tending of the soil

There is a time of reflection

Of wonder and truth

And with that comes fertile soil

To plant and grow whatever you desire

Healthy cells

Uplifting thoughts

Supportive habits

Thriving relationships

Passionate job/business/career

Next evolution of You

Whatever you are called to

As this day, week, year comes to its own death

As you stand at the crossroads of death and life

However that is showing up for you

What is Death here to show you?

What is dying within you and for you?

What are you choosing and being called to nurture and nourish in the fertile soil of your life?
