Water and Fire

So I’ve spent the last two days exploring everything regarding orchids, Venus fly traps, growing mediums, growing methods, feedings, and all the variations as an experiment and exploration of Water, following the Nudges of Soul.

I have to admit: Plants have a tendency to die or shrivel up when in my care.

As much as I care for them and love having plants around, soil potted plants and I just don’t seem to thrive together.

My plants that are currently in water, though, have new roots and are doing well.

I learned that, unlike the very vague and basic care instructions on the Venus fly trap packaging, they actually originated in the bogs of North Carolina and crave mineral-lacking, wet environments. So essentially, keep them in a tray of water.

I learned that there are many different ways to repot orchids - in pine bark, moss, water only, clay beads. You can get really specific with pH of your water and fertilizer and whether or not to have grow lights.

There is the water culture method which uses no potting material at all. There is the semi-hydroponic method that uses clay beads and water reservoirs.

You may be wondering why I bring all this water-related planting to you.

Well, because I’ve been avoiding the Fire side of me. Because somewhere, my mind was deciding that Destruction was a bad thing, something to be guilty about.

The raging wildfire wanting to take over everywhere and burn it all down.

The Volcanic eruptions and oozing Lava.

The creation of new land as Lava plays with Water.

The fertile soil left from the destruction in which to create and Be.

As I sit with it all, I notice:

I am the Water. I am the Fire.

I am the Creation and the Destruction.

I am the leaning into and the avoiding.

I am everything I choose to be in this moment.

What and/or Who are you choosing to Be? Right here. Right now?
